THANK YOU HEAVENLY FATHER for sending young men on missions!! It has been such an honor to have our boys serve missions. It always melts my heart when I get a letter that says this, "well mom, i sure love you. i really do !!! im so blessed to have been born of you. i really dont know how to say thank you for all that you have taught me. if it wasnt for you, i wouldnt be here in Mexico testifying of the true gospel. thank you for showing me the way to heaven. now its my turn to give this town Heaven. te amo muchísimo. " I wouldn't trade these words for ANYTHING! How blessed I AM.............

Katelin goes to college........BYU baby!!!

So to help her get in the BYU spirit we had a blanket making party!! Not really, but we did get together and had fun making her a blanket. Rob's friend Emily, an avid UofU fan, wanted nothing to do with it, so she jeered from the sidelines. We put this blanket together in 30 minutes. A record I'm sure. Good luck Brent and Katelin. We are glad the BIG move is behind us and we are LOVING our new surroundings. We are settling in nicely and our home is MORE than we ever dreamed it would be. My favorite part of the house is our deck that looks out over the valley. We have 3 temples in our view. It's AMAZING and it's a DREAM come true. Here are just a few pics of our homestead. Actually, I like to call it our COTTAGE because I think it looks like one!

Spoiled GIRL, that's ME!

Growing up surrounded by these boys was not always a walk in the ball park! But believe me when I say IT WAS WORTH IT! They protected me, spoiled me, teased me, taught me to play all sports, tolerated my endless singing and dancing, taught me to surf, water ski, and how to beat up every boy in the neighborhood. They took me to the movies, the beach, the mountains, sang with me, talked with me, took me for ice cream, out on dates with them, let me drive their cars, bought me nice gifts, the list goes on and on. Now that we are grown, I love them even more. They are wonderful husbands, fathers, and grandfathers and I look forward to each time we can be together........Thanks, BROTHERS, for all the great memories. I love each of you SO much........

MMMmmmThe Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever!

Do you remember grandma's chocolate sheet cake?
We are heading to a party and I was asked to
bring something sweet. What could be better
than this....

And what do you do with the frosting left in the bowl?

Are you a spatula or a beater licker?


Or do you just dig right in like I do? mmmmmmmm


BEST SHEET CAKE EVER!
1 ¼ c butter
½ c cocoa
1 c water
2 c flour
1 ½ c brown sugar
1 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
½ t salt
1-14 oz sweetened cond. Milk
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1 c powdered sugar
1 c nuts
Melt 1 c butter, stir in ½ c cocoa and water. Bring to boil, remove from heat.
In separate bowl combine flour, brn sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Add cocoa
mixture, beat well. Stir in 1/3 c condensed milk, eggs and vanilla. Pour in greased
15x10 jelly roll pan. Bake 15 min at 350. In saucepan, melt remaining ¼ c butter, stir
in remaining ¼ c cocoa and remainder of cond. milk. Stir in powdered sugar and nuts.
Spread on warm cake.

YOUNGER BROTHER'S, whatcha gonna do with em'!

We were all busy getting ready for church and Dad was giving us the countdown for departure (the one that drives us all crazy but we love him in spite of it!) Around the corner comes McKay in a suit. I said, "Wow McKay, you look great!" It didn't register until we were walking out the door that McKay doesn't own a suit. Upon closer inspection I recognize it as Brent's beloved treasure from his mission. His departing gift to himself from Spain. The suit he loves so much. The one he decided to keep home and not take to BYU. The one he safely packed in a travel bag and placed in the entry closet. So, I did what any other loving mother would have done. I said, "When we get home I want to take a picture of you in Brents suit. And by the way, McKay, have you ever heard of blackmail?"

If you read Scott's letters, you've probably seen these pictures already. I really miss the boy. Honest, I do! One of the things I miss most is when he would come home from wherever he had been, he would walk in the door from the garage, through the laundry room, down the hall, through the entry, and finally to the family room singing whatever song he had just heard on his iPOD at the TOP of his lungs. Good thing he has a great voice! Now he's singing in Spanish in MEXICO. Can you believe he's been gone 6 months? Way to go Scotty! Get er' done and give em' HEAVEN!
